LaBella Organizational Life
Because life in organizations should be beautiful.
Madison S. LaBella, PhD Candidate
Hi, my name is Madison LaBella, and I am passionate about improving organizational life for employees, teams, and organizations. I am a PhD candidate at Drexel University finishing my degree in Organizational Behavior and I am thrilled to join Marist College as an Assistant Professor of Management in Fall 2025.
I study relationships and psychological needs at work and primarily focus on workplace loneliness, team and interpersonal dynamics, and diversity and inclusion. I seek to understand how relational experiences affect individual and group wellbeing and performance and what organizations can do to increase a sense of connection and wellbeing among members.
Throughout my career working with community development, consulting, and social mission organizations, I have seen that business can be a force for good in our lives and in our communities. As such, I dedicate my research, teaching, and consulting to improving individual wellbeing and organizational outcomes.
Let's connect.

Loneliness & Belongingness Research Group
As a loneliness researcher, I know that our communities and relationships matter for both the quality of our work and our wellbeing at work. That is why I founded the Loneliness and Belongingness Research Group, an international group of more than 50 scholars and practitioners. We meet monthly to share our work, collaborate, and generate new ideas. Please join us by emailing me at labellaorglife@gmail.com.
All are welcome! You don't need to study loneliness or belongingness to join the group or attend meetings. Simply come with an interest in discussing and learning about these topic areas. We value interdisciplinary thinking and informal and formal collaborations across disciplines.
Thank you to everyone who attended our events at Academy of Management in Chicago!
We hosted a symposium session entitled, "Workplace Loneliness: When It Happens, Who Experiences It, and How to Prevent It." If you'd like more information, please contact me.
We also gathered for an event sponsored by the OB Managing Connections Committee at Starbucks Coffee Reserve Roastery as pictured below. It was lovely meeting many of you in person and we hope to stay connected!
Planning for our next gatherings...
Please stay tuned in our monthly meetings and recap emails about planning for next AoM or other group conference, socials, and publication efforts.
Alternatively if you are planning a symposium at SIOP or other conferences throughout the academic year and are looking to add papers from relationship or emotions researchers, our group would love to connect!
